Coed baby shower invitations from the father?

I am hosting a coed baby shower for my sons girlfriend. I've only been to one baby shower in my entire life and it was my own! Since there will be men and women at the baby shower-does this mean my son can also invite men and women or is it strictly people who his girlfriend wants to invite? I feel silly asking but I don't want to do the wrong thing! Help!!
