How to make your parents happy while doing everything your way?

For example, my mom wants me to have a stable ordinary job that probably won't involve any creativeness or inspiration. This is the way she was brought up. And she tries to pass these values to me. I, on the contrary, want something creative, something with art. But choosing something she doesn't like can create a conflict and and make her feel sad that I didn't listen to her at all...And I will feel doubtful and question my decision thinking maybe she was right, she is older, more experienced, she probably knows me better... I want to make everybody happy, but I cant... How do I make choices without hurting the feelings of my dears? Is that even possible? What are you thoughts?
