Too shy to talk to him..? And is he a player?

I'm 13 (I know I'm young. But idc) and my crush is a year older than me. We go to different schools and I hardly know him :\ we went to this coed basketbAll clinic together and I was the only girl that was in the advanced group if that matters... But anyway, he would always pass me the ball when we scrimmaged, always try to stand by me, would constantly stare at me when nothings going on by me and no one's near me, he would smile at me out of nowhere, and once he this kid started saying something about me and then my crush stopped him and they walked away and started whispering. I heard my crushes name, my name, her, ask, and you. I assume something like you should ask her out or something but idk. So I think he likes me. But on his facebook, he seems like the kind of guy who all the girls like but isn't like extremely popular if you know what I mean. He's single, but he seems like a player.. Like in his "about me" box, he has like 7girls names with hearts next to them.. But I just think those are girls he's good friends with? He's like everything I could want in a guy.. I wanna talk to him but I'm really shy.. What do I do?�
